Your personal aspirations
The message behind CharacterScope is simple:
We believe the world would be a better place if everyone found the confidence to be the leader they have the inner potential to be.
CharacterScope is about helping you find and develop your identity as a leader. Helping you to be the best leader you can be.
One way to do this is to start off thinking about your inspirations and aspirations
(5 minute reflection)
Have a think about how important being a leader is to you…
How is it important in your work? In your personal life? In your family life?
Why is it important to you or not important?
Who do you look on as a leader who inspires you? Think about famous leaders, but also think about people closer to home – a colleague, a boss, teacher, neighbour, friend, family member. What is it about them that inspires you?
By thinking about your aspirations in CharacterScope, you will begin to think about yourself in the context of leadership. This introduces you to the 9 leadership types, which will become very familiar over the course of your journey.
You are asked to select two of the 9 leadership types as your aspirations:
- Do some of these feel more natural to you?
- Can you imagine yourself fitting into this leader type?
- Or perhaps one of them seems to describe a leader you know who inspires you
- Does one stick out as exciting to you?
If this is the first time you have really considered yourself as a leader, or thought about different types of leadership, you may not know what your aspirations are at this stage. Don’t worry – this stage is mainly about tuning you in to our way of thinking about leadership and helping you begin to find your identity as a leader.
